You must be a citizen or at least a resident alien to buy a home in the US. Not true. Many people are here on work visas sponsored by an employer. They often are going through the process of getting a green card/alien card, but often are going straight for citizenship. Regardless of what path they are on, if they are here on a work visa and have 2 years of filed tax returns, we can do the loan with 3.5% down. If they are newly here with no tax returns, we have a different program with 20% down.
